Helistrat have Grand Time for Charity

 In Circular Economy, News, Sustainability

The World Cup filled our screens this summer and at Helistrat we enjoyed following the action as well as using it as a theme for one of our best fundraisers, raising £1,600 for charity.

We ran activities such as sweepstake, fantasy football, raffle, keepy upys and a bake sale in the office. In addition to this we also had a team of 8 taking part in the Conti 24 Hour Thunder Run. A gruelling 24-hour relay race around a 10K cross country course. The team did a fantastic job, completing 16 laps, with our fastest lap being 38 minutes and the team reaching 4th place in the early stages. With the money raised we will donate:

  • £500 to Solent Mind, the leading mental health charity across Hampshire. They ensure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support.
  • £400 to Age Concern Hampshire, an independent charity working across the country to promote independent living to the over 50s.
  • £400 to Mary Rose Academy, a special school for pupils aged 2-19 years who have severe and complex learning difficulties.
  • Although not one of our official charities, we donated £100 to Adoption UK, the national charity run by and for adopters.

Rather than a monetary donation we purchased items such as animal feed, toys and bedding to the value of £200 as well as collected items within the office for the Stubbington Ark. The Ark is a centre for local animal welfare services covering 400 sq. miles including Portsmouth and Southampton. The items were hand delivered recently so keep an eye out on social media for updates.

On top of our summer fundraiser we have also been raising funds from dress down days, sweepstakes and charity tuck shops.
