Helistrat Nominate Local Charities to Support in 2019
Each year Helistrat choose a single or a few local charities to support from nominations that are put forward from staff. This year we are pleased to announce that we will be raising money and providing volunteering for The Rainbow Centre in Fareham and Breast Cancer Haven in Titchfield.
These charities are both small and in need of time and money – both of which we can provide. Helistrat run various fundraising events throughout the year to raise funds as well as offering its staff a day paid for volunteering. Last year we raised £6,000 as well as collecting items and providing over 100 hours of time.
Sarah Hudson, Corporate Fundraiser for The Rainbow Centre, said,
“It is wonderful to have the support of Helistrat. This gives us the opportunity to raise awareness of The Rainbow Centre and its support for adults and children with neurological conditions through Conductive Education. We look forward to welcoming members of the Helistrat team to see first-hand what we offer and to working alongside them to fundraise and provide volunteering opportunities.
Breast Cancer Haven fundraising manager Sally Hillyear said:
“We are delighted that Helistrat will be supporting Breast Cancer Haven Wessex. Breast Cancer affects 3000 people a year in our region alone, that is new cases. We support anyone with a current diagnosis and people who are living cancer free with the physical and emotional side affects of the disease. Our services are free of charge but cost £1000 per visitor for complimentary sessions as well as counselling for family and friends. It is also important for us to raise vital awareness to Helistrat staff and clients and the wider community to check themselves monthly and we look forward to working together over the next year.”
Alison Jenkins, Head of Marketing at Helistrat, comments:
“We are really excited to be working with new charities this year and provide them with the support they need. It is always so satisfying to see the great things that our money goes towards but equally it is so difficult to limit our support to just two charities. This year we will be providing smaller levels of support to those we have worked with in the past such as the Mary Rose Academy and Stubbington Arc and Circus Starr “.
To say thank you to our staff members who put forward nominations we will be sending a £50 donation to each of these. In addition, when requests come in, we will do our best to accommodate and provide support.
The Rainbows Centre’s mission is ‘to transform the lives of people who have a neurological condition enabling them to become as independent as possible, so that they and their families can enjoy life to the full’. We are based in Fareham but our adults and children come from 6 counties in central southern England, with many coming from Hampshire. We support children of all ages with cerebral palsy, and other motor disorders and adults with Parkinsons, MS, Strokes, Cerebral Palsy and head injuries.
Breast Cancer Haven is a charity that supports women and men through their breast cancer treatment by providing a tailored package of emotional, physical and practical support that helps mitigate the side effects of their clinical treatment. They provide a comforting environment where visitors can benefit from the support of their welcoming team and from meeting others going through similar experiences.
